Today I discovered that blazing your own trail, although it can be hard work and full of unexpected surprises, can be more rewarding than following an easy, simple path that someone else has groomed for you. I decided to confront my fear of all that might go wrong, and I strapped on my skis (Barb's fischers, Barb's fischers) and blazed my own trail across the pasture, along the creek, and back beyond the hill that holds the old homesteader's grave. I just kept the tips of my skis up and pointed forward, and the views were so spectacular and the solitude so peaceful, that all the hard work and bumps I encountered along the way didn't deter me from enjoying the journey. |
